As part of your child’s educational experience at William Martin Schools, we aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future. One element of PSHE is ‘Relationship, Health and Sex Education’.
In June 2019 the government published the updated legal framework for the teaching of Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) in England and Wales. Initially the new framework was to be in place by September 2020 but due to the Coronavirus Pandemic this was extended to the Summer Term 2021. In view of this we have rewritten and updated our current RHSE policy to reflect the changes introduced by the government.
Due to COVID- restrictions we are unable to invite parents into school for a presentation about the curriculum. Therefore, we have presented the relevant information to you in video format with a Powerpoint. Here is the link to the 15 minute video explaining the changes, the curriculum and the resources that will be used to teach RHSE in school.
